Working Equitation - the new trend!

Originally, working equitation is a southern European work style that is very much based on the tasks of the horses in agriculture, i.e. the Spanish vaqueros and the Italian butteri, for example. It summarises all the old European working rides, from which Western riding also developed. Unfortunately, these work riding styles were somewhat forgotten for a long time, until a small circle of riders took them up and promoted them to a competitive discipline.

The focus is on the rideability and obedience of the horse. It is tested in 4 disciplines: Dressage, trail, speed trail and cattle work.

X. German Championship of Working Equitation

The DM 2022 of the Juniors in the WL class will be determined, open to all riders who are not older than 17 years of age on 1.1.2022.

The DM 2022 of the Young Riders in the WM class will be determined, open to all riders who are not older than 21 years of age

The DM 2022 will be determined in the WS** class, open to all age groups.

Program

Friday - Part 1

Dressage test level L - S

There will be a dressage competition with classical lessons ridden to music. The dressage tests for the individual classes are set by the WED e.V.. The lessons correspond to the performance class of the test.

Saturday - Part 2

Stiltrail Level L - S

trail course is set up with 10-15 different obstacles. The number of obstacles and the trail layout depend on the performance level.

The trail obstacles are, for example, parallel slalom, gate, bridge, round barrels, side pass, alley, bell alley ... The obstacles must be completed in the given order. The correct execution is judged.

Sunday - Part 3 & 4

morning: Cow Trial Level L - S

A rider selects a cow from the herd. As a team, it is driven into a separate area. Here, the points achieved count; if there is a tie, the fastest time decides.

from about 14:00 Speedtrail Level L - S

A trail course similar to the style trail is ridden for speed. Mistakes in the obstacles result in penalty seconds. Time counts - the fastest wins.

Following the S class speed trail - on the large showground - the award ceremony for all classes will take place!

As Working Equitation is based on well and correctly trained horses that must be loose, agile, brave and responsive, Germany, although not a country of 'cattle herders', is the ideal country to promote such a beautiful sport because of its equestrian discipline and enjoyment.

Every breed of horse, every age group of rider and horse, every serious, enthusiastic rider finds joy in this versatile form of competition!

In order to grow this sport, to present it to as large an audience of riders and spectators as possible and also to inspire high-quality events and sponsors, the new association 'Working Equitation Deutschland e.V.'- WED eV. was formed.
