Giving pets really good nutrition 

Our family-run company has more than 60 years of experience in the production of high quality pet food, and is one of the leading manufacturers of premium food for dogs and cats. We have had a considerable amount of international success in many different countries with our MERADOG, Wahre Liebe and MERA EXKLUSIV brands.

Quality “Made in Germany”

All of our products are made in our factory in Kevelaer am Niederrhein, in one of the most state-of-the-art manufacturing plants in Europe. Most of our raw materials originate from local suppliers, who are chosen with extreme care and monitored at regular intervals.

We first check each individual delivery for maximum quality, and our quality assurance system ensures that we have full traceability from finished product to raw material supplier.

Manufactured to the foodstuff standard

The manufacturing process is carried out in accordance with the foodstuff standard, and always complies with the strictest international quality standards. Our production is continuously checked and certified by independent institutes. We use only high quality, natural ingredients and meat from healthy animals which is intended for human consumption – monitored and verified by official veterinarians.

Five stars for four paws

Our claim is that we produce tasty products using the latest state of nutritional science. We develop advanced nutritional concepts with innovative recipes using in-depth knowledge of the needs of the animal and in collaboration with science.

Our pet food is therefore continuously setting new standards for innovation, quality and wholesomeness. This is how we meet the constantly increasing requirements for healthy and responsible pet nutrition, and achieve a markedly high quality level with all MERA products.

From junior to senior

On this basis, we cover all the specific needs of the animal in the different phases of its life. MERA pet food therefore provides an extensive and varied range of complete foods. We also provide a wide range of snacks and tasty biscuits – made by ourselves, of course.

Our contribution to the environment 

Even though we do all that we can to save energy, our manufacturing systems still use significant quantities of gas and electricity. However, we at MERA are extremely responsible with the environment. We therefore manufacture all of our products with “green” energy from 100% renewable energy sources.

The energy that we consume mainly comes from hydroelectric power. In this way, we reduced our output by about 2700 tonnes of CO2 in 2013. We are guaranteed and certified by so-called RECS certificates. The independent and neutral Öko-Institut e.V., Freiburg monitors and checks the process.

Responsibility is a priority

We are constantly on the look-out for alternative solutions with numerous other well thought-out measures and acute awareness of our responsibility to the environment. For example, our emissions are naturally filtered through an advanced and environmentally friendly biobed.
