EQUITANA NEW ZEALAND
EQUITANA Auckland - The equine world is coming to New Zealand
The countdown is on to the second EQUITANA Auckland with all the stars locked and loaded, ticket sales well underway and the finishing touches being put to the programme before it goes to print.
Thousands will descend on the ASB Showgrounds in the heart of Auckland city for four days of equine heaven. One of the biggest drawcards is Sir Mark Todd, the much-adored world-class eventer who won back to back gold medals at the Olympic Games. He’s also the patron of the New Zealand Pony Club Association, which is perfect as we’ve really opened our hearts to the nation’s aspiring young riders. Sunday is Pony Club Day at EQUITANA Auckland where all members get in for free and have a chance to watch, learn and chat to Sir Mark.
Our other star presenters who are also garnering plenty of interest are Olympic showjumper Bruce Goodin, the internationally celebrated dressage trainer Tristan Tucker and leading western rider Al Dunning.
There will be a ding-dong of an Australia versus New Zealand battle in The Way of The Horse challenge with Kiwis Amanda Wilson and Andrew Jamison taking on Georgia Kolovos and Donal Hancock. With just four hours over four days to take unhandled sport horses from wild to willing it is an event that captivates the audience and has them on the edge of their seats as they are amazed and entranced by the talent of the horse men and women in the round pens.
This year EQUITANA in partnership with the New Zealand Warmblood Association are introducing the Performance Horse Auction to the programme and it is attracting interest from on and offshore with around 15 horses to go under the hammer. Huge effort has gone into ensuring the very best of bloodlines are on offer at the auction with every horse full registered and from proven pedigrees.
The education component of EQUITANA Auckland can never be underestimated, with more than 35 educators presenting 25 sessions each day, covering everything from horse health to rider wellbeing, lifestyle to mindset, competition tips to horsemanship and so much more.
Top flight competition in showjumping, dressage, express eventing and reining promises much for riders and spectators alike.
The trade side of the event is the biggest indoor equine trade show in New Zealand, with 150 stands covering everything imaginable both for horse, rider, and supporters.
All in all, EQUITANA Auckland is stacking up to be one for the history books for those who love equestrian, shopping, entertainment and rubbing shoulders with the stars.
