Company presentation
Agro Maripá was founded in 1979 with the aim of selecting Mangalarga Marchador horses for outdoor rides and sports.
The Mangalarga Marchador is a horse breed native to Brazil descended from Portuguese Lusitanos, introduced in the country by King John VI in the early 19th Century. They are valued for their beauty, intelligence, disposition and smooth gaits. Mangalarga Marchadors have four gaits: walk, canter and two accepted ambling gaits—the diagonal “batida” and the lateral “picada”. They are noted for their endurance and versatility in a number of disciplines.
Agro Maripá owns over 400 horses and produces carefully selected animals that are genetically engineered to deliver excellent performance as saddle horses. Comfort, conformation, beauty, endurance, temperament, courage, are some of the characteristics Agro Maripá seeks to strengthen in their “batida” gaited horses.
