The winners 2011
EQUITANA Innovation Award 2011 goes to six companies from the equestrian sports industry
62 products, 51 exhibitors, 5 categories and 6 winners: once again, the equestrian sports industry gave proof of its creative genius. A larger number of companies than ever before had applied for the EQUITANA 2011 Innovation Award and with their products given an insight into tomorrow's product worlds. Five of these were awarded prizes in the categories, and in addition one product received a special award.
For the third time already, EQUITANA granted the Innovation Award in cooperation with the PFERDEBETRIEB magazine in 2011, to distinguish new, creative and useful product developments. Innovations for horse keepers, riders and breeders took centre stage.
Uwe Kraft Reitsportgeräte & Metallbau GmbH:
Uwe Kraft
With a roll-up partition for horse exerisers, Uwe Kraft Reitsportgeräte & Metallbau GmbH was the winner in the Stable, Indoor and Outdoor Riding Arena Construction and Training Technology category. The medium-sized company from Baden-Wurttemberg has been specialising in the production of horse exercisers for many years. Its roll-up partition represents a significant improvement in the care and maintenance of exercisers. The jury praised the functionality of the partition which solves the problem of access for machinery to exercisers and therefore represents an enormous reduction of the workload involved.
Gallagher Europe B.V.:
Harald Dziura, Michael Drewes und Johann Kaltenegger
The SmartPower M1200i paddock fence device can be used for as many as six paddocks simultaneously. It can be controlled from a distance of up to 1,000 m from the paddock. For this convincing solution the jury awarded Gallagher Europe B.V. the prize in the Stable Technology and Products, Paddock and Field Technology category. The controller screen provides information about the earthing and fence voltage as well as about the status of the fence, ensuring animal control and safety as well as immediate notification in case of a voltage drop.
Equiscan e.K.:
Christoph und Andreas Rieser
A system that has the potential to become standard. The winner in the Health, Grooming & Feeding Products category is the Topograph Pro from Equiscan e.K. The innovative method for measuring and reproducing the back of a horse actively protects horses from injuries and owners from wrong purchases. Since the Topograph Pro can be used independently of specific manufacturers and for all saddle types, it is of interest for the entire industry. Another aspect that impressed the jury was the possibility of long-term storage of measurements. This is a way of checking on the horse's training status which in turn could provide a guideline for the future training schedule.
SAS Distrivan Vans Fautras:
Matthieu Kerninon
Plenty of innovative potential was also demonstrated by SAS Distrivan Vans Fautras from France with its winning product in the Vehicles category. The Aid System makes it easier for one person to load horses and thus solves a typical everyday problem when travelling. The rear box bar which can easily be locked from the front section of the horse box ensures that contact to the horse is always maintained.
Equine Industry:
Carl Bolten
A rug system offering numerous advantages for the horse was the winner in the Riding and Workwear, Safety Products category. By means of two cushions "Trust Tetris" from Equine Industry provides the horse with protection in the withers region. The padding makes chafing caused by the rug in the chest and withers region a thing of the past.
HurkySon:
Matthieu van den Hurk
The jury again granted a special award this year. The happy winner here was a company nominated in the strongly contested Stable Technology and Products, Paddock and Field Technology category. HurkySon from the Netherlands won the award for its "Dust Extractor" dust removal system. The jury praised the efficient extraction of up to 80% of particulate matter from hay, straw and other types of litter which reduces the risk for the respiratory system for humans and animals.
