There is no fair like this – since 1972 EQUITANA has entertained creatively and professionally presenting new and topical ideas again and again. Every second year this world equestrian sport show presents itself as a unique meeting point of the equestrian scene and international highlight of the equestrian sector par excellence.

EQUITANA creates worlds of experience releasing emotions

The Fair for equestrian sports EQUITANA creates worlds of experience releasing emotions.
Its unique atmosphere is characterized by the direct closeness to horses, entertainment, information and communication. At the same time, EQUITANA forms the point of sale of the equestrian sport. In a unique environment of this equestrian fair the exhibitors demonstrate their capacity, present their products and innovations and extend their contacts. EQUITANA is a successful mix of business and experience demonstrating the high development potential of equestrian sport and setting trends in the equestrian sport sector.

The fairground in Essen has become an optimal location for the equestrian trade show. In 2001 the fairground was extended and now offers new special opportunities for EQUITANA. Additional 20,000 m² exhibition space in hall 3 at the western part of the fairground enable structural rearrangement of EQUITANA.

Presentation of trends and more scope for development of growth industry

Since then the increased space has offered more visible presentation of trends and more scope for development of growth industry. Furthermore, the reorganization of the “Galeria” in summer 2005 has given the equestrian fair additional attractiveness from February 2007. The new “Galeria” combines the western wing with the existing halls. This logistic centre offers optimisation of the assembly and disassembly traffic as well as new attractive possibilities for space use.

The arrangement of the different trades inside the halls provides transparency of the product groups and enables better orientation for the visitors. The horses are divided in breeds and riding manners and form the basis of this trade arrangement. Further reference groups are producer goods, horse feeding, horse keeping and grooming as well as equipment and wear. The exhibitors of media and service as well as the international exhibitors are grouped with associated sectors according to structure and content.

EQUITANA – special projects

Together with the German Equestrian Federation (FN) and other qualified partners EQUITANA successfully integrates a multitude of special projects into the equestrian fair. The mere training forums of the FN with well-known trainers. riders and school riders as well as the veterinary lecture by Dr. Ende or the hoof village with smithy always attract visitors. The show concept of EQUITANA is especially designed for the support of topics from equestrian sport, horse breeding, keeping and training by means of practical presentations and cups. Stallion Masters, Cutting and Reining Cup or Baroque Horse Cup are some examples of this successful concept.

Since 1981 the HOP TOP Show of EQUITANA has offered also an evening show in hall 6. The successful show has become a highlight of the equestrian fair and a favourite incentive for customers and employees of the exhibitors. In 2005 another evening show has been added to the evening program for the first time.
The breeding show STALLIONS is an exclusive event and it has become an inherent part of the equestrian trade show.

Equine Expertise Centrum

Furthermore, the professional character of the world equestrian trade show EQUITANA has been increased.
Furthermore, the professional character of the world equestrian trade show has been increased with the Equine Expertise Centre in 2007 and thus meets the visitors’ increased information demand. By means of practical demonstrations the visitors obtain expert knowledge and tips for training, equipment and riding manners. Speech events around the topics horse keeping, riding manners and management can be visited in the neighbouring forum. Here you will meet experts and you can compare your expert knowledge.

For the love of horses, for the love of success – this maxim will be acted also at EQUITANA 2009 with a successful concept.
